Before you start: Here’s what to expect
Once you secure a temporary assignment or contract role, you’ll receive important details, including:
- Terms of Engagement: How to complete and return your signed Terms of Engagement if not previously completed.
- Job confirmation letter: Outlines your hourly rate, award (if applicable), and start date/time.
- Dedicated consultant: Your consultant’s contact details for ongoing support.
- Background checks: Will be completed where relevant. Some industries require a Working With Children Check - please review our policy regarding your responsibilities when working around children and young people.
- Payroll onboarding: You’ll receive a welcome email with your payroll ID and instructions to complete your onboarding to Hays Online Timesheets to ensure you get paid correctly. You will use this account to submit your timesheets and access your payslips.
- PAYG Employees: Must submit tax, bank, and superannuation details before starting work to avoid taxation at the highest rate.
- Pty Ltd Contractors: Must provide ABN, GST registration (if applicable), and company bank details.

- Health & Safety inductions: You’ll receive instructions to complete health & safety inductions relevant to your role
During your assignment: How it works
- First day: We will touch base with you on your start date to ensure a smooth transition.
- Regular check-ins: We will stay connected and support you throughout your role.
- Prompt pay: Submit your timesheets weekly via Hays Online Timesheets. Some clients use different systems — your consultant will guide you.

- Stay in touch: Notify us of changes in duties or when your assignment is nearing completion. Stay in regular contact, your consultant is here to support you every step of the way.
