Currently based in Brisbane, for the past 16 months this candidate has been the Manager and Technical Director of the specialist energy consultancy Middleton Group. Hired to expand and set up practice in Queensland, his tenure here has seen him gain and work with clients all across the state to deliver energy storage solutions.

Prior to joining Middleton, he had spent over two years working for the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO). Leading a team of 15 IT engineering professionals, this appointment saw him make large scale changes and deliver technical projects. Such examples include the creation of a centre of excellence, power grid cyber security enhancements and energy modelling for optimisation (to name a few).

Before spending the past three years within the energy domain, he had spent 13 years working in the private defence sector. Starting with Airbus Australia within the software field, he designed and built mission critical avionics software for various helicopter platforms. Continuing on this journey, he progressed to work for Airbus Germany and France from a systems perspective. Overseeing the interoperability between helicopter software and hardware, he built a deep understanding of real world assets and their controlling technology.

Relocating back to Australia in 2016, he joined the defence/civilian technology contractor Nova Systems. Spending circa four years here, he worked as an Internal Technical Consultant overseeing projects across ANZ. Such examples include mine site automation strategy’s, digital twins for gas pipelines, the delivery of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle’s (UAV’s), aircraft ground control systems and helicopter software upgrades to name a few.
