Currently in Brisbane, this candidates career has seen him straddle between Mining and IT focused engineering. Starting in his native Pakistan over 20 years ago, he started operating within the mining domain as an onsite engineer specialising in the running and operation of the site itself. During this tenure he started migrating into the technology domain and after nine years in mining, transitioned to this new specialism. 

Starting in academia (both lecturing technology centric subjects and undergoing his Masters of IT in the UK), he soon relocated to Western Australia in 2017. Having started working in hands on IT positions whilst undergoing his PhD in Mining Engineering at Curtain University, he relocated to Brisbane where he worked at the mining technology startup Mining3 (backed by both CSIRO and the private sector). Focusing on digital mining transformation, this position saw him undertake digital research in an effort to improve the efficiency of mining using big data, digital twins, haulage systems, electric vehicles and a variety of other cutting edge technology. 

Leaving there after circa two years, he joined Caterpillar as a contractor in which he worked on the R&D of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) in conjunction with their MineStar and MineStar Edge solutions. Since the end of this contract, he has spent the past several months working within the mining technology consultancy domain.

This recent consultancy work is not to his liking due to it being a continual FIFO based position with varying rosters and lack of stability. As such, he is seeking new Brisbane based opportunities (with travel as and when required).
