Candidate Overview

This highly experienced Senior Mine Geologist is looking to move up in their career. This candidate brings over 18 years of expertise across open pit and underground operations, spanning gold, iron ore, nickel, and manganese projects throughout Australia. They have a strong track record in production geology, grade control, and resource estimation, supported by advanced technical skills.

Currently operating at a senior level, the candidate manages daily production activities, grade control modelling, stockpile management, and reconciliation reporting, while also mentoring geology teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Notably, they have successfully rebuilt complex block models from the ground up, improving geological interpretation accuracy and operational outcomes, and have stepped into leadership roles such as acting Technical Services Superintendent when required.

Technically, they are an expert user of Surpac with extensive experience in wireframing, block modelling, resource estimation (including kriging and ID2), and drill program design. They also possess advanced database capabilities, including building and optimising production databases using Excel and Access, with strong QAQC and validation practices. Their skillset is complemented by working knowledge of Datamine, Leapfrog, and Acquire.

Earlier in their career, they gained valuable experience in resource modelling, JORC-compliant reporting, and geological auditing, including delivering a resource model that significantly improved both tonnage and grade outcomes for an iron ore operation. They have consistently been recognised for their leadership, mentoring ability, and technical excellence, earning promotions into senior roles.

With a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Geology and a Graduate Certificate in Geostatistics, alongside AusIMM membership, this candidate offers a well-rounded blend of hands-on operational experience, advanced modelling capability, and leadership strength. They are well suited to geology superintendent or senior geologist roles where they can add immediate value through both technical expertise and team development.
