Currently based in Brisbane, the past 15 years has seen this candidate work across several facets of the mining domain. Starting overseas within the metallurgical field, he soon relocated to Australia to continue this work onsite in the gold mines of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.

Having joined Rio Tinto over 10 years ago, his tenure here has seen him work in a varied assortment of positions and secondments. After having spent the first five years in a residential role at Rio Tinto’s uranium mine in the Northern Territory, he soon moved to Brisbane to work in a more corporate based environment.

Having transitioned into the technology domain with this move, he led a Data Analytics team tasked with the delivery of machine learning projects for the company’s US based copper mines. Furthering his digital journey, he spent a several years growing Rio Tinto’s digital and analytical capabilities by building teams, delivering both site and corporate based projects and championing technical excellence across the organisation.

Most recently, the past two years has seen him join Rio Tinto’s GHG advisory team. Acting as internal consultants, he works with mines and business units across the organisation to develop emissions accounting, reporting and analytical tools. Focused both on the technical and compliance aspects of emissions, this position sees him cover Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and act accordingly to reduce these. Combining his technological, digital and mining/site-based experience, his current position is extremely diversified.

Whilst enjoying this position and Rio Tinto as an organisation, he is seeking to further his capabilities by applying his skill set in a more technological focused environment.
