Currently based in Adelaide, for the past circa 18 years this candidate has been working within Australia’s defence sector in the autonomous assets domain. Starting with the federal governments Defence Science and Technology Group (who conduct research and development work on behalf of the ADF) as an R&D Engineer, his 16 year tenure here saw him expand upon his initial computational science background to specialise within the data domain.

With much of his time spent on classified projects, his time here culminated with him being a subject matter expert on applying data science to autonomous vehicles such as drones, vehicles and ships (as the same research is applicable regardless of the hardware platform). Part of this research also included applying machine learning and computer vision to guidance systems of said platforms. During his time here, he also undertook his PhD in Machine Learning for Aerospace Guidance and Control Systems at the University of South Australia to add to his academic qualifications.

Leaving the DSTG in 2021, the past few years have seen him undertake several contracts within the same technical domain (ML, AWS, Python, etc) and industry but for various private defence contractors in the Adelaide region.

Whilst enjoying his work, he is seeking to to apply his vast data science and autonomous asset management experience to other sectors and as such is open to relocating away from South Australia.
