Bosses reveal what they look for in job seekers
A strong handshake and a happy, confident approach impress in a job interview, as do communicating what you want and preparing questions to ask your interviewer.
This is what we discovered when we asked over 100 employers to list what they find contributes to a positive impression of a candidate in a job interview.
We found the top ten job interview turn-ons are:
- Confident, happy and positive attitude
- Strong presentation, in terms of communication skills, dress and/or handshake
- Provision of real life examples to demonstrate answers
- Ability to illustrate how they stand out as a candidate
- Clear career plan or aspirations
- Enthusiastic and passionate about the role
- Ability to communicate the benefits they can bring to the business
- Prepare questions in advance to ask the interviewer
- Displays a good understanding of the role
- Is an active listener
So while each job is different, enthusiasm, strong presentation, a firm handshake and being happy and confident are all likely to help you win points in your next job interview.
