Reaching new heights: Hays employee conquers Mt Everest for beyondblue

Ashlee Francis, an Administrator working for recruiting experts Hays in Parramatta, has achieved what few of us will and climbed Mt Everest.

In the process, she not only conquered the world's highest mountain but she also raised over $2,000 for Hays’s corporate charity, beyondblue.

According to Ashlee, “It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.” But we feel that’s putting it mildly. The challenges she faced were staggering and included an oxygen level of less than 10 per cent, a constant headache, vomiting and an inability to eat or sleep.

Despite the enormity of these challenges, and after a very slow and exhausting trek, Ashlee conquered Mt Everest. With a peak 8,848 metres above sea level, she says that the views were incredible and despite all she endured to make it to the top, “It’s still the best thing I’ve ever done.”

All of us at Hays are incredibly proud of Ashlee’s success. So far her climb has raised $2,183 for beyondblue, with donations still coming in.
