We are seeking experienced Underground Heavy Duty Fitters to join our underground maintenance team supporting mechanised mining operations across Western Australia. This role is suited to a safety‑focused tradesperson with strong mechanical aptitude and proven experience maintaining underground mobile equipment in production environments.
Your new role
- Carrying out scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, and breakdown repairs on underground mobile equipment
- Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
- Performing component change‑outs including engines, transmissions, axles, pumps, and braking systems
- Conducting inspections and fault finding in line with OEM guidelines
- Completing work orders, pre‑starts, and maintenance documentation accurately
- Working safely in confined underground environments while maintaining housekeeping standards
- Collaborating closely with supervisors, operators, and other trades to minimise downtime
- Ensuring compliance with site safety systems, policies, and procedures
Equipment
- Sandvik underground loaders, trucks, and jumbos
- Epiroc / Atlas Copco fleet (LHDs, trucks, development drills)
- CAT underground equipment
- Normet, MacLean, or similar ancillary underground equipment
What you'll need to succeed
- Australian recognised Heavy Diesel Mechanic qualification (Cert III or equivalent)
- Minimum 2–3 years’ underground mining experience (hard rock preferred)
- Strong hydraulic and fault‑finding capability
- Experience working on underground mobile plant in production environments
- Sound knowledge of underground safety requirements and isolation procedures
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong time management and problem‑solving skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices
