Operating out of nearly 100 countries, this blue-chip freight forwarder specialises in providing a wide range of solutions to their wide customer base, aiming to become the leader in global freight forwarding. After a sustained period of growth, this business is now looking for an experienced, customer-focused Transport Operator to join their team in North Melbourne.
Your new role
The position is responsible for arranging and directing the transportation and shipment of products to Australia and other foreign destinations by compiling, completing, and verifying the necessary forms in accordance with company policy and procedure. Additionally, your responsibilities will include:
- Meeting customer delivery expectations on shipments by adhering to department SOPs, milestones and KPI deadlines
- Maximising profitability for transport jobs, by accurately processing jobs in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Carrying out deliveries in accordance with Management directive, customer instructions and specified requirements
- Planning and prioritising shipment deliveries from the Transport Workbench in order to achieve milestone requirements, designated KPIs and deadlines
- Recording and verifying financial transactions
- Establishing and maintaining strong client relationships with DSV customers (internal and external), suppliers and service providers
- Providing accurate information to customers, company management and suppliers
- Problem-solving a range of transport issues such as: documentation, weights, and measures in relation to load size, space availability etc; and calculating monetary implications
- Working in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to create innovative solutions for customers
What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will be a proven Transport Specialist having worked within the freight forwarding space. Additionally, you’ll need:
- Experience in handling LCL, FCL and Airfreight cartage
- Knowledge of the Cargowise One Platform
- Customer service experience, having a track record of fostering new and existing partnerships
- Strong commercial acumen
- Proven experience in keeping in-line with KPIs with a strong focus towards time-sensitive tasks
- Experience in overseeing the movement of a high volume of containers
