Traffic and Transport Engineer

Respectable Local Council seeking an experience Traffic & Transport Engineer for an immediate start!

Your new organisation
Join a well-known Local Council, currently seeking an experienced Traffic & Transport Engineer to join their supportive and friendly team. This position offers an initial contract of 3 months, with the potential for extension. You will play a crucial role in planning, monitoring, reviewing, and implementing the Council’s traffic management program. Additionally, you will collaborate with the City Strategy team to undertake strategic transport review and planning work.

Your new role
Reporting to the coordinator, your day-to-day responsibilities will be the following below:

  • Providing accurate and timely traffic management and road safety advice, information, and guidance to the Council, management, employees, and the general public. Ensure compliance with current legislation, guidelines, and codes of practice, including the Local Government Act, Road Management Act, and Road Traffic Regulations.
  • Reviewing and providing technical advice on internal and external referrals such as CRMs, PCG, PWG, traffic management applications, NHVR applications, town planning, and building referrals.
  • Investigating, planning, designing, reviewing, and monitoring the Council’s annual and long-term Capital Works Program, including delivering the Council’s capital works program and implementing approved traffic treatment works.
  • Developing working relationships and regularly liaising with transport partners, including internal teams, the Department of Transport, Emergency Services, Public Transport Service providers, the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, and other statutory authorities and organisations. Represent the Council’s community’s traffic and transport needs diligently.

What you'll need to succeed
The successful person will be a qualified Civil Engineer with significant Traffic and Transport Engineering experience, ideally within a Local Government environment. You will also have strong verbal and written communication skills in engaging with internal and external customers, as well as being able to identify and solve problems.
