Your new role

• Design, develop and maintain software applications, systems and components using approved programming languages, frameworks and tools.
• Analyse business and technical requirements to develop effective and efficient software solutions.
• Participate in code reviews to improve code quality and share knowledge across the team.
• Work with project managers, product owners, business analysts, senior customers and other engineers to design, plan, estimate and deliver software solutions.
• Maintain and enhance existing software by identifying improvement opportunities, refactoring code and resolving defects.
• Ensure applications meet security, performance and scalability requirements.
• Contribute to system architecture and technical design discussions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including timely fixes and root-cause analysis.
• Ensure developed solutions align with project architecture guidance, Defence policy and Information Security Manual guidance.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation relating to systems, code and development processes.

What you'll need to succeed

• Strong software engineering experience across secure, complex or mission-critical environments.
• Experience designing and developing large or complex software components in line with agreed standards and principles.
• Ability to evaluate design options, assess risks and make technical recommendations
• Experience working with cross-functional teams including project managers, product owners, business analysts, senior stakeholders and engineers.
• Strong understanding of secure software development, system design, maintainability and scalability
• Ability to work in a high-security environment with sensitivity, reticence and discretion.
• TSPV clearance held
