Hays is partnering with a federal government client operating in a national security environment to engage an experienced Software Developer for a long‑term, high‑profile program.

This role supports the delivery of mission‑critical analytic platforms and applications used for data capture, analytics, monitoring, alerting, and visualisation within highly secure environments.

Your new role

You will be a key contributor within a multidisciplinary engineering team, delivering secure, high‑quality software aligned to government and national security standards.
Key responsibilities include:

• Designing, developing, and unit testing new features using C#, Python, FastAPI, and/or React

• Maintaining and refactoring existing applications in classified environments

• Diagnosing and resolving defects across the full software lifecycle

• Producing clear technical documentation and API specifications

• Managing source code using GitLab or Bitbucket, including CI/CD pipelines

• Participating in code reviews and mentoring junior developers

• Applying secure coding principles and adhering to organisational security policies

What you'll need to succeed

• Experienced software developer, including delivery in government environments

• Demonstrated experience deploying high‑security or classified networks

• Strong understanding of the full SDLC

• Hands‑on experience with one or more of:
  C#
  Python
  FastAPI
  React

• Knowledge of secure coding practices and threat awareness

• Applications without an active PV clearance cannot be considered.
