Signalling Design Engineer - Rail

Seeking a signalling design engineer to join a supportive team to help deliver their projects on a contract

Your new role
As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering signalling design solutions for maintenance renewals and smaller-scale projects. You’ll be involved in the full design lifecycle—from concept and stage gates through to final design and issue for construction—ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver signalling design solutions using CAD tools.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical analysis, and detailed reports.
  • Manage design queries and interface with multiple stakeholders.
  • Provide technical expertise and review design submissions.
  • Support project schedules and contribute to successful delivery outcomes.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Engineering registration: RPEV or NER (mandatory).
  • Statement of competency: RIW and design competency linked to RIW.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in signalling design or related rail engineering.
  • Strong technical knowledge of signalling systems and design principles.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently when required.
Additional Details
  • Hybrid work model: approx. 3 days in the office (Melbourne CBD).
  • Occasional travel to regional sites (approx. once per month).
  • Exposure to multiple projects, including maintenance renewals and MPM work.
