Sexual Assault Counsellor (DFV Specialist)

Provide counselling and support to women impacted by DFV, focusing on safety, recovery, and case management

Our client is a not-for-profit community organisation delivering specialist support services to individuals impacted by domestic, family, and sexual violence across regional Queensland. Your new role

  • Provide intake, triage, and crisis response to individuals accessing the service
  • Deliver therapeutic counselling and case management to women impacted by DFV and sexual assault.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans to support client wellbeing
  • Coordinate and manage case plans in collaboration with clients and stakeholders
  • Deliver both short and long-term counselling and support for complex needs
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate group programs and support initiatives
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal teams and external service providers
  • Provide court support and advocacy as part of a rostered service
  • Maintain accurate client records and complete required administrative tasks
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, or related field (or Diploma of Counselling with relevant registration)
  • Experience supporting women and/or children impacted by DFV or sexual assault
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and risk assessment
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, particularly DFV regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage complex caseloads and work within a team
  • Current driver’s licence, Blue Card, and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Cultural awareness and ability to work with diverse communities
