Your New Company
Our client, major Victorian Govt organisation are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Project Manager for an immediate start in their IT BAU service team. The Senior Project Manager, who will work accountable to the Director IT and Digital Services, will be responsible for overall Project Management accountabilities for a portfolio currently of 50+ projects to ensure deliverables are met on time according to scope and budget, are fully documented and are of high quality.
Your New Role
A key delivery of this engagement is to establish standardised project management practices (using existing content wherever possible) and artefacts in collaboration with Director, Project Management Office. Project risk management is a key deliverable of this role.
Job Responsibilities:
- Facilitate a review of the BAU IT project portfolio to determine what should be started, stopped, kept or re-assigned.
- Work with key partners to define dependencies on the BAU IT team for their project portfolio(s).
- Develop, deliver, and update project artefacts for assigned projects.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and resources to deliver scheduled activities and manage inter-dependencies to resolution.
- Manage project reporting by producing high quality documentation, leveraging existing reporting formats where possible.
- Maintain risk and issues register ensuring all mitigations progress through to completion.
- Build strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and create mutually beneficial partnerships essential to the success of the team.
- Provide leadership and guidance to project resources, providing project management expertise and support to establish a collaborative and positive team culture and to maintain efficiency and high performance in achieving project objectives.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Experience working in large program, project and PMO environments across waterfall, agile and hybrid approaches
- DevOps skills highly desirable
- Ability to translate technical concepts to different audiences and stakeholders, at all levels of seniority
- Proactive and assertive with the ability to cut through ambiguity to reach decision and resolution of issues
- Demonstrated understanding of Agile methodologies, including risk management.
- Experience in using relevant project management tools such as MS Project, JIRA and Confluence.
- Project Management qualification, highly desirable but verifiable evidence of previous similar experience is paramount.
