Your new role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and coordinate a range of activities related to financial audit processes, stakeholder engagement, and governance reporting. This role is critical in supporting the department’s obligations with the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality financial statements and audit outcomes.

Project Management
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, timelines, and communication plans
  • Lead stakeholder engagement including weekly internal meetings
  • Prepare briefing notes and reports for senior leadership and external stakeholders
  • Facilitate post-audit reviews and lessons learnt activities
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial statements for inclusion in the Annual Report
Audit Coordination
  • Lead weekly meetings with the OAG and manage urgent audit queries
  • Coordinate Planning Provided by Client (PBC) listings and audit logistics
  • Manage the audit process across multiple entities, including briefing notes and reporting
  • Support procedural fairness and survey responses related to audit outcomes
Consultant Engagement
  • Manage procurement and contract processes for external consultants (e.g., KPMG)
  • Facilitate weekly progress meetings and ensure governance in addressing audit findings
Governance Support
  • Provide secretariat support to the OAG Audit Findings Governance Group
  • Prepare agendas, minutes, and extension requests
  • Engage with key internal stakeholders, including Internal Audit and Corporate Data teams

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience in project management within a government or complex organisational setting
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and audit processes
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes under tight timeframes
  • Experience working with external consultants and managing governance processes
