Senior Payroll Officer

Experienced hands-on Senior Payroll Officer needed for a temp to perm role.

Your new role

  • Deliver end‑to‑end payroll processing across multiple entities with full ownership of the payroll lifecycle
  • Validate and process timesheets, rostered hours and approvals in line with payroll requirements.
  • Interpret and apply complex industrial conditions including penalties, overtime, allowances, shift structures and travel provisions.
  • Manage employee lifecycle activities including onboarding, variations, leave management and terminations
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant workplace legislation, statutory obligations and taxation requirements
  • Prepare payroll journals, reconciliations and financial reports
  • Support internal and external audits through accurate reporting and documentation
  • Respond to payroll enquiries, resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain payroll system accuracy, including employee setup, pay adjustments and ongoing data integrity
  • Provide leadership within the payroll function, with responsibility for developing and supporting future team members
  • Manage fringe benefits and related compliance obligations
  • Design, implement and maintain payroll controls and governance frameworks
  • Conduct internal payroll audits to identify risks and improvement opportunities
  • Lead payroll system projects, enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives
