About the Project

Join a major mining development project in the Northern Territory, focused on delivering sustainable outcomes in the agriculture and industrial sectors. This project is set to become one of Australia's significant contributors to the global phosphate supply, with first production targeted for late 2025.


The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Mining Engineer to lead and support mine planning, design, and operational optimization across mining operations. This role is critical in ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of resources while contributing to strategic decision-making. This is a full-time Permanent role on an 8 days on / 6 days off FIFO roster, preferably from Darwin, Cairns, Townsville, or Brisbane.

Your key responsibilities will be:
  • Develop and maintain medium and long-term mine plans in alignment with production targets and business objectives.
  • Design and optimize pit layouts, haulage systems, and production schedules.
  • Conduct technical evaluations, trade-off studies, and risk assessments for mining projects, and prepare technical reporting.
  • Collaborate with geology, processing, and operations teams to ensure integrated planning and execution.
  • Monitor and analyse operational performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and life-of-mine planning processes.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in all engineering activities.


What you'll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Extensive experience in mine planning and operations, preferably in open-pit mining, familiarity with stratified orebodies is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Surpac, Vulcan, Micromine, Datamine).
  • Demonstrated expertise in scheduling, including mid-term scheduling and monthly planning.
  • Significant experience in Drill & Blast.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
