We are currently partnering with a leading organisation within the defence sector to secure a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a long-term contract engagement. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-profile, mission-critical engineering programmes in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Contracting position, defence clearance required (NV1 / Baseline)

Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will take ownership of delivering high-quality mechanical design solutions across complex systems. This role offers exposure to cutting-edge defence projects.

Your new role

• Lead and deliver mechanical design activities across project life cycles.
• Develop innovative, robust, and cost-effective design solutions
• Produce and maintain detailed design documentation and drawings
• Support engineering change processes and continuous improvement initiatives
• Review and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) for accuracy and efficiency
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering and project teams

What you'll need to succeed

• Proven experience in mechanical design, ideally within defence, maritime, or complex engineering environments
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD (e.g. Inventor or similar) and drafting standards
• Experience designing sheet metal enclosures or structural systems is highly regarded.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and relevant standards
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Degree qualified in Mechanical, Mechatronic, or related discipline
• Defence clearance
