Your new role

This position is a backfill for a key legal resource who is taking extended leave. The successful candidate will step into a pivotal advisory role, maintaining continuity of legal services and ensuring the organisation's legislative and contractual obligations are met without disruption. Key responsibilities include:

• Advise the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on organisational legislative responsibilities under its establishing legislation and the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.
• Draft, negotiate and review agreements, memoranda of understanding, contracts, leases, and procurement documentation.
• Advocate organisation interests in dealings with Commonwealth, State and Territory agencies and non-government organisations.
• Manage legal actions related to intellectual property infringement.
• Provide legal guidance on privacy, complaints, FOI, employment law, and other governance matters.
• Conduct legal research and contribute to policy development and statutory reporting.
• Ensure compliance with privacy legislation, including mandatory reporting and international obligations.

What you'll need to succeed

• Admitted to practice as a lawyer in Australia.

• A minimum of 6 years' PAE gained in legal advisory roles.

• Federal and/or state government experience is essential.

• FOI experience would be highly desirable.

• Ability to keep up in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to hit the ground running and work autonomously.
