We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Senior Legal Administrative Assistant | Legal Secretary specialising in Workers Compensation and Medical Negligence to join a dynamic legal team. As a Senior Legal Secretary, you will play a key role in supporting senior legal professionals, managing complex documentation, coordinating case files and ensuring seamless administrative operations. Your industry knowledge of medical negligence and workers' compensation will be invaluable in assisting with legal matters, client interactions and case preparation.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional administrative skills, a strong understanding of legal procedures, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate must be experienced in this role and have a desire to commit to this role with a long-term mindset.
Your new role
With no two days the same, the tasks you will be responsible for are:
- Document Management and Preparation: Organising, filing, and maintaining legal documents, including contracts, pleadings and correspondence.
- Scheduling: Coordinating appointments, meetings and court dates for the internal team and clients.
- Client Communication: Handling phone calls, emails and in-person enquiries from clients, providing information and updates as needed.
- Research: Conducting legal research to support case preparation and ongoing legal matters.
- Billing and Invoicing: Managing billing processes, preparing invoices and tracking payments.
- Administrative Support: Assisting with general office tasks such as data entry, mail distribution and office supply management.
- Case Management: Maintaining case files, tracking deadlines and ensuring all necessary documents are prepared and submitted on time.
- Drafting Documents: Preparing legal documents such as briefs, motions and agreements under the supervision of the team.
- Court Filings: Filing documents with the court and ensuring compliance with court procedures and deadlines.
- Confidentiality: Ensuring all client information and legal documents are handled with the utmost confidentiality and security.
What you'll need to succeed
A Senior Legal Administrative Assistant needs a diverse set of skills to effectively support a legal team.
- Extensive experience as a legal secretary, preferably within medical negligence and workers’ compensation law.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, processes, and documentation
- Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain detailed records and keep track of important deadlines.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in document preparation, data entry and legal research.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, attorneys and court personnel.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with legal software, Microsoft Office Suite and other office technology.
- Research Skills: Ability to conduct thorough legal research and compile relevant information.
