Senior Financial Accountant immediate temp role within the Mining industry

A well-established organisation within the Mining sector is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant / Finance Manager to join their Brisbane CBD–based finance team on a temporary‑to‑permanent basis. This role requires someone immediately available who can step in, add value quickly and support the business through a period of change and growth.

Your new role

Reporting to the local Finance Director, you will take ownership of core financial accounting and reporting activities while helping strengthen processes, controls and systems. This role is hands‑on and suited to someone comfortable operating in a dynamic, project‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Delivery of monthly and year‑end financial reporting
  • Management of general ledger integrity and month‑end close
  • Balance sheet reviews and reconciliations
  • Ensuring compliance with AASB standards, internal controls and governance frameworks
  • Supporting external audit processes
  • Assisting with system and data improvement initiatives (ERP‑based)
  • Partnering with stakeholders across the business to provide clear financial insight
  • Contributing to process improvement and documentation uplift


What you'll need to succeed

  • CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in senior accounting / financial reporting roles
  • Background in Mining, Energy, Infrastructure or asset‑heavy industries highly regarded
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail
  • Experience working with ERP systems (SAP experience advantageous)
  • Advanced Excel capability
  • Ability to hit the ground running in a fast‑paced, change environment
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
