Your new role
As a Data Systems Analyst, you will act as the critical link between business requirements and technical data solutions. Your work ensures that data systems, processes, and integrations are aligned with organisational needs and deliver meaningful outcomes.
You will serve as a subject-matter expert on data flows, system integrations, analytics platforms, and the broader data ecosystem. Your insights will guide technology deliverables, ensuring they are fit for purpose and aligned with stakeholder expectations.
Key responsibilities include:
Analysing business processes and identifying improvement opportunities
Managing and documenting detailed business and technical requirements
Leading and executing testing activities and developing test strategies
Assessing risks related to data and business systems and developing mitigation plans
Creating dashboards, reports, and data visualisations to support decision‑making
Supporting senior analysts with business models and process diagrams
Leading business process optimisation initiatives
Supporting change management, communication, and training activities
Managing configuration, version control, and release processes
Ensuring data quality, security, and regulatory compliance
Conducting data analysis and developing analysis plans
Implementing data and information security measures
Evaluating IT solution feasibility across technical, financial, and organisational constraints
Developing metrics to measure process and system performance
Ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations
Supporting program management, quality assurance, and service evaluation
Building strong stakeholder relationships and aligning IT solutions with business needs
Collaborating with architects to ensure alignment with architectural standards
Providing technical support, troubleshooting, and user assistance
Leading test case design, execution, and defect management
Contributing to continuous improvement and innovation initiatives
What you'll need to succeed
Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in IT, Business, or a related field (Mandatory)
Certification of Capability in Business Analysis™ (CCBA®) (Highly regarded)
Experience
6+ years in a data‑related role with a strong analytical focus
Proficiency in data analysis, data management, or database systems
Experience in insurance or financial services (Highly desired)
Background in fast‑paced, cross‑functional environments (Preferred)
Technical & Professional Capabilities
Expertise in managing complex requirements throughout their lifecycle
Advanced data analysis, statistical modelling, and predictive analytics skills
Strong data modelling capabilities
Experience with BI tools for dashboards and reporting
Ability to perform data mining and advanced analytics
Deep understanding of business process analysis and optimisation
Strong system analysis and design knowledge
Ability to produce detailed technical documentation
Excellent communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences
Advanced testing strategy development and QA oversight
Strong understanding of data security and regulatory compliance
Experience managing vendors and third‑party solutions
Mastery of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
