Your new company
An exciting opportunity has become available for a commercially astute and articulate Senior Corporate Counsel to join a leading, national financial services provider on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This role sits within a well-regarded legal team and offers exposure to high-quality commercial work across regulatory, contract, and stakeholder advisory matters — with direct impact on day-to-day operations and strategic legal risk management.
Your new role
As Senior Corporate Counsel, you will work closely with the Senior Legal Counsel and support a high-performing in-house legal function during a period of team movement and secondment coverage. This is a broad and hands-on legal role where you will:
• Provide advice on commercial contracts, operational legal matters, and business-as-usual legal support
• Interpret and apply key regulatory frameworks (NCCPA, ASIC Act, AML/CTF, Privacy, PPSA)
• Review and negotiate third-party agreements and customer-related documentation
• Support internal operational stakeholders, particularly within the loans and customer services teams
• Assist with compliance projects, policy reviews, and legal documentation updates
• Advise on risk, customer complaint resolution, and legal obligations
What you'll need to succeed
• 3+ years’ post-admission experience (in-house or private practice)
• Solid grounding in financial services, banking, insurance, or regulatory law
• Strong commercial contracts experience and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders
• Confidence, clarity, and professionalism in your written and verbal communication
• A pragmatic, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
• Must be based in Melbourne and able to commute to the southeast for two days per week
What you'll get in return
• High-calibre legal work with exposure to major operational stakeholders
• Flexible hybrid working model: only 2 days onsite per week (with free parking)
• Supportive, collaborative culture with a national legal team
• Competitive salary package
• Genuine work-life balance and a values-driven environment
