We are seeking a self-driven and experienced AWS Cloud Engineer to support a high-impact Whole of Government program aimed at advancing AI adoption across federal agencies. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining secure AWS infrastructure, with a strong focus on aligning with ISM controls and supporting AI application development.

Your new role

• Design, deploy, and manage AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and VPCs.
• Implement and maintain security protocols in line with ISM standards.
• Conduct security assessments and performance tuning of AWS environments.
• Provide technical guidance and documentation to support internal teams and APS projects.
• Lead knowledge transfer and mentoring activities.

What you'll need to succeed

• Proven experience in AWS infrastructure design and deployment.
• Strong understanding of security frameworks within government environments.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
• Experience with DevOps tools, microservices, and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and IAM principles.
• Exposure to AWS AI services (e.g., Bedrock), Azure, and scripting languages (Python, Shell). [Desirable Skill]
• AWS certifications and experience in Agile delivery environments. [Desirable Skill]

• Security Clearance Requirements: Applicants must be Australian citizen and hold a minimum of Baseline security clearance. Candidates without the required clearance will not be considered.
• Location: Canberra, ACT-based candidates only, due to the collaborative and interactive nature of the role.
