We are looking for a Senior BA with strong expertise in banking and payments, particularly in merchant acquiring, settlement, and scheme processes. This role focuses on ensuring accurate merchant onboarding, pricing, billing, and settlement operations while maintaining compliance with regulatory and scheme standards. You'll be working with a high-performing team in one of the Big 4 Banks.
Key responsibilities:
Merchant Acquiring & Settlement
Manage and analyse the full merchant acquiring lifecycle, including onboarding, transaction processing, and settlement.
Ensure merchant settlement files and reconciliation processes accurately reflect all acquiring activities.
Monitor compliance with internal SLAs and external regulatory requirements.
Investigate and resolve exceptions such as chargebacks, reversals, and delayed settlements.
Ability to actively support Quality Assurance by performing hands-on testing, validation, and defect resolution throughout the merchant acquiring and settlement processes.
Scheme Settlement (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, etc.)
Validate settlement interfaces and message exchanges with major card schemes.
Analyse interchange fees, chargeback handling, and reconciliation against scheme data.
Ensure adherence to scheme rules, message formats, and clearing/settlement timelines.
Identify and resolve variances between scheme and internal settlement data.
Data Analysis & Reporting
Develop and maintain reports on merchant performance, settlement accuracy, and pricing.
Provide insights to improve operational efficiency and reduce settlement discrepancies.
Support audit and compliance requirements with accurate documentation.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Work closely with business analysts, developers, and operations teams to resolve issues.
Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives for merchant billing and settlement.
What you'll need to succeed
Strong understanding of merchant acquiring, pricing, and billing processes as an experienced Senior Business Analyst
Familiarity with FIS platforms and merchant pricing/billing is highly desirable.
Knowledge of card scheme rules and settlement processes.
Analytical mindset with experience in reconciliation and variance analysis.
What you'll get in return
The role offers a 6-month contract with potential of extension and a day rate of $900 + super.
