Senior Accountant / Finance Lead role for a well-established Manufacturing business

Your new company

A well-established manufacturing organisation based on the south side of Brisbane, are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to lead the finance function and support operational and strategic decision-making across the business. Reporting to the Managing Director, with a matrix line into the regional finance team, this is a hands-on leadership role overseeing financial control, compliance, reporting and cost analysis within a complex manufacturing environment.


Your new role

As the finance lead, you will take ownership of end-to-end accounting operations while leading a small finance team. Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing all accounting functions and ensuring the integrity of financial data
  • Leading month-end close and delivering accurate, timely management reporting
  • Preparing annual statutory accounts and coordinating local and group audits
  • Ensuring compliance with Australian and US GAAP, SOX and statutory requirements
  • Preparing and managing budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with senior leadership
  • Analysing manufacturing costs, overheads and variances to identify efficiencies
  • Overseeing inventory valuation, controls and turnover optimisation
  • Providing financial insights to support capital investment and business initiatives
  • Managing purchasing approvals and supporting procurement processes
  • Maintaining compliance across Finance, Administration and IT
  • Leading, mentoring and developing direct reports within the finance team


What you'll need to succeed

  • CPA/CA qualification ideal (or qualified by years of experience)
  • 5+ years’ experience in a complex finance role at senior level
  • Proven experience within a manufacturing or operations-focused environment
  • Strong technical accounting and reporting expertise
  • Solid understanding of cost accounting and inventory management
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel capability
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical skills and a proactive mindset
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at leadership level
