Hays Technology are supporting a government organisation based in the Brisbane CBD to appoint a SAP Extensions Lead to an initial 12 month contract with a strong possibility of extension. This organisation is delivering major infrastructure, technology, and transformation programs that support a rapidly growing city. You will join a large, complex enterprise undergoing a significant SAP S/4HANA and Modern ERP transformation, delivering critical digital platforms that underpin essential services. The environment is collaborative, delivery‑focused, and aligned to best‑practice enterprise SAP standards.

Your New Role
In this contract role, you will act as the SAP Extensions Lead, responsible for the end‑to‑end management of SAP technical developments across the SAP ecosystem. You will lead a team of SAP developers delivering enhancements and remediation work across SAP BTP, ABAP, Fiori/UI5, and integration components within a large, complex S/4HANA environment.
You’ll provide technical leadership across design, build, testing, and release, manage SAP extensibility registers and traceability through SAP Cloud ALM (CALM), and ensure all in‑house developments are transitioned smoothly to BAU and AMS support following the Modern ERP go‑live. This role balances hands‑on technical oversight with stakeholder engagement and delivery leadership.

What You’ll Need to Succeed
Significant senior‑level experience in SAP S/4HANA ERP environments, across both project and support settings
Strong technical leadership experience across SAP BTP, ABAP/OO‑ABAP, Fiori/UI5, and SAP integrations
Proven experience delivering end‑to‑end SAP implementations in enterprise environments
Demonstrated capability leading matrix or virtual teams and managing concurrent SAP developments
Deep experience in integration design, data modelling, and technical solution architecture
Hands‑on knowledge of SAP Integration Suite (CPI), APIs, IDocs, RAP, CDS Views, and ABAP on HANA
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes
A collaborative mindset with a focus on governance, documentation, and delivery excellence
