Your new company
The LPLC is an independent statutory entity providing professional indemnity insurance to Victorian legal practitioners and some national law firms. The LPLC plays a critical role in supporting the legal profession and community, underpinned by strong values of integrity, accountability, and excellence.

Role purpose
This role delivers high-level, confidential, and proactive support across Governance, Secretariat and Finance, with accountability for coordinating governance, risk, and compliance frameworks. You will play a significant role in ensuring governance activities, committee cycles, compliance obligations, audit programmes and risk frameworks are aligned, structured and delivered effectively.

Sitting within Finance and partnering closely with the General Counsel function, this role supports the CFO’s first-line accountability for risk while ensuring strong governance practices across the organisation.

Your new role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working closely with the General Counsel, this is a highly visible and trusted position responsible for:
  • Coordinating Board and Committee governance cycles, including agendas, papers, minutes, and annual work plans
  • Managing governance calendars, registers, and key documentation (policies, delegations, conflicts, etc.)
  • Maintaining and embedding the organisation’s Risk Management Framework, including risk registers, assessments, and controls
  • Supporting compliance obligations, regulatory lodgements, and internal audit programmes
  • Tracking governance actions, resolutions, and continuous improvement activities
  • Supporting Environmental, Social and Governance initiatives and project managing the annual report
  • Managing stakeholder engagement, communications, and governance coordination
  • Providing appropriate oversight and challenge in relation to first line risk, effectively partnering with the CFO & General Counsel.

Key skills and experience
  • Strong experience in governance and Board/Committee secretariat support within complex environments
  • Demonstrated experience managing governance frameworks, registers, and compliance obligations.
  • Experience supporting enterprise risk frameworks, including risk registers, controls, and reporting.
  • Ability to operate as a trusted advisor, including providing constructive challenge and “managing up” to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience collaborating closely with executives and legal functions.
  • The industry background is flexible, open to candidates with transferable governance and risk experience.
