Research Manager

Are you a Research Manager with a passion for grants administration in the health sector?

Your New Company

FightMND is a leading Not-For-Profit organisation and the largest independent funder of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) research in Australia. Their vision is a world without MND.

Over the last decade, FightMND has grown into a prestigious organisation across Australia, raising awareness and supporting the fight against “the beast” that is Motor Neurone Disease.

Hays is delighted to partner with FightMND in the recruitment of a Research Manager to effectively manage and oversee FightMND’s Cure Research portfolio.

Your New Role

Reporting to the Director – Research and Programs, you will engage with research and government stakeholders, providing oversight on FightMND’s Cure investments and fostering connections and collaborations within MND and research sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
• Strategy: Develop cure research strategy, impact frameworks, and partnerships.
• Project Management: Implement and manage research programs, identify gaps, and develop new initiatives.
• Operations: Oversee grant schemes, provide scientific oversight, and manage media enquiries.
• Reporting: Create outcome reports, prepare updates for the Board, and evaluate program impact.
• Stakeholder Management: Build relationships, represent FightMND, and manage the scientific advisory panel.

What You'll Need to Succeed

With a Master’s degree in medical science or a relevant discipline, you will have a proven track record in a Research Manager or Research administration role, ideally within the healthcare sector or government. This will be supported by:
• Experience with program or portfolio management, including managing projects and financial reporting.
• Demonstrated experience managing research stakeholder relationships.
• Experience communicating complex scientific concepts to a non-scientific/lay audience.
• Strong experience managing a team or direct reports.
• A solid understanding of the government and non-government funding landscape.

What you'll get in return

This role offers the opportunity to work for a prestigious Not-For-Profit Health Research organisation and support a fantastic cause.

Working for FightMND comes with numerous employee benefits, including:
• Flexible and hybrid working arrangements, with 60% of your time spent in their office in Burnley.
• A competitive salary package, including access to NFP salary packaging.
• An additional five days of gifted leave annually.
