They are experiencing strong and sustained growth and are now looking to future-proof the continued growth of the company by investing in a Purchasing Manager, to implement purchasing processes and develop strong supplier relationships.
Your new role
The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for overseeing purchasing processes, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials to facilitate construction projects. The company has a great track record of winning work with Tier 1 Contractors leading construction projects of roads, tunnels, and railways, such as Sydney Metro Stations, Parramatta Light Railway, M7 & M12, the Warringah Freeway and Coffs Harbour Upgrades.
In this role you will develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimise cost, quality, and delivery while collaborating with internal departments to forecast demand and ensure timely availability of materials.
Developing and maintaining strong supplier relationships is key to this position. You will negotiate agreements to secure favourable terms and monitor supplier performance to address any issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing.
You will conduct market research to discover new suppliers, local and overseas, and evaluate their capabilities while identifying opportunities to drive down costs.
In this role it is essential to maintain accurate records of purchases for spend analysis and ensure supplier price lists are updated to facilitate tracking spend in relation to project progress. You will utilise this information to prepare reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance.
What you'll need to succeed
Extensive experience in purchasing with a focus on implementing and improving processes
Exceptional communication skills and confidence in building strong relationships with local and overseas suppliers
Results focussed and strategic in your approach to supplier management, driving cost reductions and managing overall spend
Experience within the construction industry will be advantageous, but is not essential
The cultural fit is paramount.
