Project Manager - Rockhampton

AO6 Project Manager required for a short-term contract with possible extension - Immediate Start - Rockhampton

Our client provides essential building and construction services across North Queensland. They are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager to join their dynamic team on a contract basis, with potential for extension.

Your new role

As a key member of the project delivery team, you’ll lead and coordinate building projects from concept to completion, ensuring quality outcomes across government-owned assets.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing all phases of building projects including pre-design, design, documentation, contract administration, and post-construction activities
  • Coordinating internal teams, external consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to meet project objectives
  • Leading negotiations with consultants, authorities, and contractors to deliver value-for-money solutions
  • Providing expert contract coordination across traditional and non-traditional systems
  • Ensuring projects meet scope, time, cost, cash-flow, and quality benchmarks
  • Overseeing stakeholder engagement and communication throughout the project lifecycle
  • Generating exception reports and conducting project audits to monitor performance
  • Supporting senior leadership in fee determination and client billing approvals

What you'll need to succeed

You bring a strong background in project management within the building and construction sector, with a proven ability to lead complex projects and manage diverse teams.

Your qualifications and experience include:
  • Previous experience in project coordination, contract administration, or construction management
  • High-level proficiency in MS Project and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, Town Planning, or Quantity Surveying (highly desirable)
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and manage compliance requirements
  • Excellent organisational and reporting capabilities


What you'll get in return

In return, you will have an immediately available, up to 40hr per week contract role, Monday – Friday within the public sector based in Rockhampton, paying an attractive hourly rate of $78.02 + Super - you will work in a well-established, friendly, and fast paced team and your contribution will be valued in the ongoing success of this busy department.
