Project Manager - MSP Transition

Seeking an IT Project Manager - MSP Transition

Your new company

A Perth‑based government organisation is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a Managed Service Provider (MSP) transition as part of a major ICT services change program. This is a critical delivery role focused on coordinating and managing the transition from an existing service provider to a new MSP.

This engagement requires a practical, hands‑on Project Manager who understands how ICT services operate, what is required during transition phases, and how to bring structure, momentum, and clarity to complex transition activity in environments with limited management capacity.

Your new role

You will be responsible for driving aspects of the MSP transition project, including planning, coordination, documentation, governance, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the MSP transition project from executed contract through to steady‑state handover
  • Manage key transition phases including service readiness, transition gateways, and operational handover
  • Coordinate vendor onboarding and offboarding, including transition planning and knowledge transfer
  • Oversee transition governance, milestones, dependencies, and delivery risks
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, vendors, and delivery partners (including large MSPs)
  • Prepare and maintain detailed transition documentation, plans, and governance artefacts
  • Ensure alignment with established MSP transition frameworks and gateway requirements
  • Manage ambiguity where scope and outcomes continue to evolve while maintaining delivery momentum
  • Provide Business Analysis‑style support where required to clarify service scope, dependencies, and transition impacts

What you'll need to succeed

You will be a delivery‑focused Project Manager with proven experience leading ICT service transitions in complex environments.
You will bring:
  • Demonstrated experience as a Project Manager leading MSP or ICT service transitions
  • Strong hands‑on delivery capability, with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels
  • Proven experience managing transition activities including:
    • Procurement and contract engagement
    • Vendor onboarding and offboarding
    • Knowledge transfer and service readiness
    • Transition to steady‑state operations
  • Strong understanding of MSP operating models, service management, governance, and gateway processes
  • Experience working in large, complex organisations with competing priorities
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Strong documentation skills and the ability to work with structured information
  • Ability to step into an environment with limited management capacity and “get the ducks in a row” quickly

What you'll get in return

This is a highly visible delivery role supporting a major service transition with clear governance requirements and defined frameworks, but significant coordination effort still required. You will play a key role in ensuring continuity of service while transitioning to a new MSP operating model.
