Your new role

In your new role as a procurement advisor, you will play a primary role in the strategic management of financial resources across the wider organisation. You will undertake the relevant operational and tactical activities to optimise procurement policy compliance through effective planning, communication, stakeholder management, spending analysis, sourcing activities and contract management.


Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Under broad direction, identify and implement improvements to Strategic Procurement policies and practices and build awareness to introduce efficiency.
  • Develop, maintain and review a wide range of specifications, briefs and commercial/RFx and other documentation to facilitate the effective delivery of the Strategic procurement Framework.
  • Provide advice/guidance, tools and training on procurement related matters and systems to staff across the University to support best practice and to ensure compliance to policies and procedures through increasing understanding in users of the procurement systems.
  • Maintain and update procurement records and the Contracts Database, conduct spend/data analysis and performance reporting to meet organisational compliance requirements and provide relevant information to Senior Management as a basis for informed decisions on strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Procurement Advisers and Contract Managers to ensure the organisation's Contract Management Framework and Supplier Relationship Management activities are appropriate and executed effectively to ensure risks are managed, contractual obligations are discharged and value is optimised.
  • Employees are required to participate in all ECU, team, and individual planning activities; comply with organisation policies and practices in all aspects of their work and conduct; and ensure the safety and wellbeing of themselves and others by complying with OSH and EO requirements.

What you'll need to succeed

Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as Business or Management OR equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation. MCIPS Procurement or Postgraduate qualifications an advantage.

Experience

Relevant experience preferably in a Procurement Role with demonstrated experience in:

  • Procurement processes, policies and procedures;

  • Data analysis and interpretation;

  • Contract management concepts, techniques and tools;

  • Managing stakeholders.

    Technical skills

Relevant experience in Oracle Financials or similar ERP systems with the ability to effectively and efficiently manipulate data and prepare and present reports using Microsoft Office programs such as MS Excel, MS Word and MS Power Point.
