Principal Studies and Development

Top Tier 1 Mining Company – Brisbane CBD
Your New Company
You will be joining a high‑performing projects organisation that delivers complex studies and major developments across the full project life cycle. The environment is fast‑paced, value‑focused and deeply committed to safety, sustainability and responsible resource development. You will work alongside technical experts, operational leaders and diverse stakeholders who are united by a shared commitment to doing what’s right, seeking better ways and making a meaningful difference.

Your New Role
As the Principal Studies & Development professional, you will provide technical leadership and guide the safe, efficient and value‑optimised delivery of studies from identification through to definition. You will explore and reassess best‑fit solutions, take ownership of project decisions and ensure alignment with standards, scope, budget and schedule.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading the identification, development and comparison of investment options, applying Optimised With/Optimised Without principles to maximise value.
  • Preparing investment cases and coordinating governance processes to progress studies through key gates.
  • Defining project objectives, schedules and critical activities while driving continuous improvement across study phases.
  • Monitoring performance, risks, cost, scope and schedule, ensuring deviations are communicated and addressed.
  • Embedding lessons learnt and best practice to enhance capital efficiency and project productivity.
  • Managing social, environmental, climate and human rights considerations across the value chain.
  • Facilitating risk‑informed decision-making and building a risk‑aware culture.
  • Engaging stakeholders effectively and ensuring alignment with change management plans.

What You’ll Need to Succeed To excel in this role, you will bring:
  • A strong track record of delivering successful studies and large‑scale projects, demonstrating clear value creation.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline (postgraduate studies in business, finance or project management advantageous).
  • Deep experience in project leadership, performance management, risk management and value optimisation.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing capability.
  • Strategic and analytical thinking, with the ability to prioritise critical deliverables and articulate business benefits, risks and dependencies.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, governance, cost control and schedule management.
  • The ability to coach, support and empower others while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and disciplined execution.
  • A sound understanding of mining industry drivers and organisational value chains.

What You’ll Get in Return

You will step into a pivotal role with significant influence over major investment decisions and long‑term value creation. You will work in a collaborative environment that values diverse perspectives, encourages innovation and supports professional growth. This is an opportunity to shape high‑impact projects, contribute to sustainable outcomes and build strong relationships across a leading resources organisation.
