Principal Software Engineer

Banking client seeking Principal Python Engineer, $225K base
Principal Engineer | Python, Kubernetes, Docker | Sydney | $220-$240K base

HAYS have partnered with an Australian Bank in their search for a Principal Software Engineer. The role sits within one of their highest profile teams as an IC with elements of technical leadership.
You'll be providing technical and strategic support in the design, architecture and development of automation solutions. You will drive engineering best practice and standards across the team and play a pivotal role in the team's contribution towards wider business strategy.
The team you'll be joining provides Software & Network applications for the business on a global scale, so this is a great opportunity to work on complex, enterprise-level solutions which will be used globally.


Responsibilities & Objectives of the role
  • Best practice engineering standards for automation solutions
  • Work with Chief Engineer and various senior stakeholders in order to design world-class solutions
  • Technical leadership
  • Architectural design
  • Support junior team members through mentorship and code reviews
  • Leadership support; work closely with leadership to shape future direction of automation
  • Stakeholder engagement
Technical experience required
  • Expert in Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Linux
  • Networking experience would be a plus but not mandatory.
  • Expertise in automation and orchestration tools like Jenkins, Bitbucket, Ansible, and Cisco DevNet
  • IaC, Terraform
  • DevOps & SRE best practices
  • Kafka, Elastic Search
