We are partnered with this Local Government organisation in the Brisbane CBD to recruit a Principal Financial and Budgeting Analyst for up to twelve months.

Your new role

This role requires strong technical accounting, budget and annual planning and expert analytical skills to ensure strategic budgeting, financial accounting and external reporting requirements are met through effective process management and delivery of complete, accurate and timely reports. The role may lead or support activities in any of the below areas:

• Manage strategic projects within the organisation corporate planning and budget processes, including project planning, Investment Prioritisation, target setting and detailed budget build to the annual plan and budget.
• Provide high-level technical accounting advice
• Provide key expert input into the financial system upgrade project
• Provide guidance on current technical and accounting / financial expertise to the organisation.
• Provide a high standard of financial analysis, including undertaking financial evaluations, forecasting and modelling to provide value-adding strategic and financial advice.
• Manage the preparation of consolidated financial statements for Council’s actuals and budget development and budget review processes.
• Contribution towards the continual improvement of financial evaluations and modelling
• Support and develop recommendations to stakeholders
• Lead process and business management reviews, recommend and develop process improvements
• Assist with support of the Financial Planning and Performance and Treasury, functions/teams as directed.

What you'll need to succeed

• Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce or Finance

• CPA/CA qualification

• Experience/knowledge of SAP or other large ERP.

• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to provide insightful, value-added advice to customers.

• Extensive experience in undertaking financial analysis in complex organisations, including the application/interpretation of legislative requirements, Australian Accounting Standards and corporate practices.

• Substantial experience in the management of the delivery of complete, accurate and timely financial analysis.
