Your new company
The purpose of this role is to assist with voter registration, issue ballot papers, and assist with scrutinies (unfolding, sorting and counting votes) on voting day.
Polling Assistants are one of the first points of contact for voters at a polling place and they also monitor ballot boxes and manage queues.
Your new role
Assist with management of voting queue and voter queries, and direct voters to relevant voting points.
Issue votes
Issue, manage and secure ballot papers in accordance with policy, procedure, and ballot paper principles.
Account for ballot papers received and complete compliance documentation.
Provide an accessible and culturally informed source of information and instructions for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander voters where required
What you'll need to succeed Due to the nature of these roles, to be eligible for these positions’ applicants must:
- Be an Australian Citizen
- Be able to obtain and maintain a Police Check
- Be able to sign a Political Neutrality Statement
- Be available to work from 9am-5pm on 25th May 2024
- Previous polling assistant experience is desired but not necessary
- Customer service experience and ability to deal with face to face enquiries
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
