An established education institution is seeking a Senior Payroll Officer to join their team on a full-time permanent basis. The role will be based on-site in their Perth CBD office.
Your new role
Reporting to the HRIS/Payroll Manager, the Senior Payroll Officer is primarily responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process for the staff across the organisation. The role involves handling all payroll-related tasks including processing payroll for new starters, terminations, and changes to contracts, maintaining accurate payroll records, and serving as a point of contact for any payroll-related enquiries. The Senior Payroll Officer will work closely with the payroll team and Payroll/HRIS Manager to ensure all payroll processes are executed accurately and efficiently.
Areas of responsibility:
- End-to-end weekly and monthly payroll processing.
- Award interpretation.
- Single Touch Payroll (STP) processing.
- Termination calculations.
- New employee onboarding.
- Salary packaging.
- End of month reconciliation and reporting.
- Workers’ compensation claim processing.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you will meet the following requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a payroll position, preferably within an educational institution.
- Experience with a medium to large scale HRIS or ERP solution, familiarity with iChris and Frontier systems are desirable.
- Certificate IV in Payroll Administration is advantageous.
- Exceptional organisational skills with strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to also work independently.
