Payroll SME job for the public sector based in Melbourne CBD paying up to $80 per hour

Your new company

This government department are looking to further enhance their payroll function. They're looking to bring in a Payroll SME, s0pecailsising in systems implementation to help them automate their manual processes and implement a new Time and Attendance period over the course of this year.

Your new role

On a day to day basis you will be responsible for:

  • Act as Payroll SME for HCM and Time & Attendance implementation and represent Payroll in project workshops and design forums.
  • Provide expert input into payroll design, configuration, architecture, and future‑state process design.
  • Ensure alignment between time capture, pay rules, payroll processing, and reporting.
  • Manage and configure ADP Payforce, produce data, and support HCM/WFM implementation.
  • Interpret EBAs, Awards, and legislation for system configuration.
  • Support and validate integrations across HCM, Time & Attendance/WFM, and ADP Payforce, ensuring accurate end‑to‑end payroll outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Payroll, HR, People Systems, WFM SMEs, integrators, and vendors; communicate payroll impacts clearly.
  • Develop payroll documentation, workflows, procedures, and training materials; support knowledge transfer before BAU handover.
  • Define and execute test scenarios, support parallel runs and reconciliations, and assist with defect analysis and resolution.

What you'll need to succeed

Having Workday experience will be incredibly advantageous to your application, especially if you have done an implementation similar to the one listed above. Having strong communication skills and experience with implementations/projects will be essential in this role. You must also have a strong understanding of payroll processes, compliance, legislation etc.
