A government organisation is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join the team immediately. You will be engaged on a temporary contract initially, working full-time hours out of the Perth CBD office.
Your new role
- Process end-to-end payroll for [insert number] employees on a [weekly/fortnightly/monthly] basis
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data
- Prepare payroll reports and reconciliations
- Handle employee queries regarding pay, leave, and entitlements
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure smooth payroll operations
- Assist with year-end processes including PAYG summaries and superannuation reporting
What you'll need to succeed
- Proven experience in a payroll position, ideally within the state government sector
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., MYOB, Xero, SAP, etc.)
- Understanding of Australian payroll legislation and taxation
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
