Payroll Manager for family-owned business in Southern Sydney

Industry-leading and family-owned, this business provides reliable and customer-tailored services to their clients across various industries. They are seeking a Payroll Manager to oversee the payroll function, lead various projects, and be hands-on with the day-to-day payroll function.

Your new role

In this role, you will:
  • Lead and manage a payroll team of 4, including providing hands-on support, training, and development to team members
  • Oversee the entire payroll function, including being involved in the high-volume, complex payroll process
  • Ensure compliance with multiple Awards and EAs
  • Foster a collaborative and empathetic team culture
  • Manage the projects of system transitions and implementations, including linking the payroll system to the finance and HR software
  • Facilitate system testing, phasing out legacy systems, and ensuring smooth transitions whilst collaborating with HR, finance, and operations teams to align systems and processes; provide expertise and guidance regarding payroll complexities

What you'll need to succeed

The successful candidate will have:
  • Proven experience managing complex payrolls across multiple entities
  • Demonstrated experience in processing payroll within complex Awards, EAs and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated success in leading payroll system implementations and integrations
  • Skilled in managing testing phases, system transitions, and go-live processes
  • Experience leading and mentoring payroll teams
  • Empathetic and hands-on leadership style
  • Ability to foster team development and performance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable engaging with senior leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to explain complex payroll matters clearly and confidently
  • Exposure to portable long service leave is desired
