Hays Recruitment has partnered with a well-established industry leader in transport services who have an exciting opportunity for an experienced operations manager to join their team on a permanent basis. This role is in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.
Your new role
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the smooth running of daily operations.
- Strategically oversee and coordinate daily operations across all bus charters
- Actively and effectively support and lead the operations team
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients to ensure high levels of satisfaction and lasting partnerships.
- Oversee the driver rostering to ensure all shifts are adequately covered, efficiently handling last-minute changes or problems
- Work closely with the people culture and performance manager on appraisals and recruitment
- Oversee and monitor the efficient allocation of work to ensure minimal dead running
- Supervise fleet management, focusing on vehicle maintenance, cleanliness, and ensuring all staff have adhered to compliance standards.
- Continuously identify and chase new business opportunities to promote company growth and success
- Monitor and enforce compliance in line with company policies and client expectations, covering areas such as fatigue management and incident reporting.
- Manage budgets and financial performance to ensure cost-effective operations
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated success and experience in a management position
- Background in logistics or transportation
- Strong leadership capabilities
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good knowledge of Metro Melbourne locations
- Organisation and planning skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety
