Your new company
A high-performing South Australian Government department is seeking two experienced Senior Policy Advisors to contribute to a major policy review and governance initiative. These short-term contract roles will play a key part in supporting organisation-wide compliance and consistency through policy and data governance expertise.
Your new role
Two opportunities are available: one focused on the review of internal policies and procedures, and another supporting data governance through high-level advisory work. Both roles require strong knowledge of government frameworks and experience working with complex legislative or procedural content.
The Senior Policy & Procedures Advisor will be responsible for reviewing and assessing a suite of corporate policies and procedures, identifying gaps, and recommending improvements in alignment with a broader governance framework. This role will engage across teams and contribute to organisation-wide consistency and accountability.
The Data Governance Advisor will provide expert advice relating to data access, privacy, and approvals. This includes engaging with legal experts on matters of authority, privacy legislation, and internal data governance arrangements. While a legal background is not required, you will need to be confident in interpreting legislation and advising senior stakeholders.
What you'll need to succeed
- Extensive experience in developing, reviewing and advising on government policies, procedures or frameworks
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex information and translate it into clear, practical recommendations
- Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation, policy frameworks or governance structures and apply them appropriately in an organisational context
- High-level written communication skills, with the ability to prepare briefings, reports, and formal advice for senior stakeholders
- Proven experience engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including legal or executive-level contacts, to gather information and influence outcomes
- Confidence working independently to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality outputs
- For the Data Governance Advisor role, experience advising on data access, privacy, or governance issues is highly desirable
- A collaborative mindset and a flexible, solutions-focused approach to working within a complex and evolving environment
- A current National Police Clearance, or the ability to obtain one
