This role will suit someone proactive, confident in their communication skills and capable of working semi‑autonomously while collaborating closely with a Communications Manager and key stakeholders.

A leading organisation is seeking a Media & Communications Officer to support the delivery of clear, consistent and engaging communication across a range of internal and external channels. This role will suit someone proactive, confident in their communication skills and capable of working semi‑autonomously while collaborating closely with a Communications Manager and key stakeholders.

  • Developing and writing high‑quality content for newsletters, announcements and organisational updates.
  • Shaping key messages and advising teams on communication approaches and channel selection.
  • Coordinating internal information prepared for external sharing and supporting structured stakeholder communication.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for media enquiries, preparing responses, escalating issues and monitoring media activity.
  • Drafting content across multiple formats including briefing notes, partner updates, website content and media responses, ensuring alignment with tone and brand expectations.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Experience delivering internal and/or external communication plans and driving engagement across channels.
  • Experience managing or supporting media enquiries in a structured environment.
  • The ability to prioritise work effectively, exercise sound judgement and work semi‑autonomously.
  • Confidence engaging with stakeholders and advising teams on communication approaches.
  • Experience in government, not‑for‑profit, education or council environments, and familiarity with brand or communication governance frameworks essential.
