Your new role
As a Media Advisor, you will be responsible for developing and implementing media and communication strategies that support departmental objectives and priorities. You will produce high-quality content for a range of platforms, including traditional media, digital channels, internal newsletters, social media, press releases and speeches.
The role also requires you to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders, including journalists, senior executives, staff and the public. You will manage media enquiries and issues, providing timely and accurate advice while mitigating risk. In addition, you will monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of media and communication activities to ensure continuous improvement.
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or related field
- Relevant experience in media and communications, ideally within the public sector
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences and channels
- Strong media relations skills with experience pitching stories, responding to media enquiries and managing issues
- Experience using digital and social media tools such as WordPress, Mailchimp and mainstream platforms
- Proactive and creative approach to problem-solving and innovation
- Valid NPC
