This is an opportunity to join an innovative organisation delivering state-of-the-art infrastructure that is reshaping how high-performance computing facilities are designed, built and operated. You will play a pivotal role in late stage design, construction, commissioning and handover of complex, large scale industrial assets. Working closely with contractors, engineering specialists and internal stakeholders, you will act as the owner’s engineer onsite to ensure mechanical works are delivered safely, on time and to a high technical standard.
Your new role
In this dynamic engineering position, you will
- Manage detailed mechanical design deliverables and ensure alignment with project standards and performance requirements
- Complete engineering calculations, provide technical direction and guide contractors through mechanical scope delivery.
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications, equipment selections and test documentation to ensure compliance and best practice
- Support project document control, including RFIs, variations, change records and mechanical site instructions
- Conduct regular site inspections, verify installation quality and track progress against project milestones.
- Lead or participate in mechanical commissioning activities, including factory acceptance testing and integrated systems testing.
- Prepare and review ITPs, assist with troubleshooting issues and ensure systems are validated ahead of operational handover.
- Contribute to the development of comprehensive O and M manuals across plant and equipment
What you'll need to succeed
To be a successful candidate, you will possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum three years experience in mechanical design, construction or contracting
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, design methodologies and Australian Standards
- Ability to interpret drawings, analyse problems and develop innovative solutions
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to consult with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Detail-oriented mindset, strong documentation ability and solid time management skills.
- Proven experience collaborating with contractors and cross-functional teams
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and eagerness to learn
- CAD proficiency is desirable.
