Mechanical Engineering Manager

Your new role

As the Mechanical Engineer – Governance & Technical Stewardship, you will work closely with the Principal Engineer and support statutory MEM responsibilities. Key duties include:
  • Championing Management of Change (MoC) and G&TS pre-reviews
  • Reviewing mechanical documents at site and asset levels
  • Administering and reviewing Intelics mechanical registers
  • Providing mechanical design and drawing reviews
  • Offering technical guidance aligned with standards and procedures
  • Supporting RS23 stage 3 WRACs and reviews
  • Acting as risk control owner for dropped objects and stored energy release
  • Supporting MEM with dossier reviews, incident investigations, and permit sign-offs
  • Attending risk assessments and providing mechanical support
  • Participating in BOS processes, field leadership, and hazard identification
  • Engaging in crew safe start meetings and problem-solving initiatives

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience in underground coal is essential
  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (university or trade)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in mining
  • Proficiency in SAP Work Management, Fiori, BHP MoC, D2, Meridian, FLEX, MS Suite, and GRC
  • Ability and willingness to work underground
  • Eligibility for supervisor appointment
  • Prior coal mining experience (underground preferred)
  • Experience in maintenance and engineering
