This prominent authority within the Victorian State Government is seeking a Manager, Media & Strategic Communications to aid in media matters and act as a media spokesperson when required. This role leads the media and strategic communication stream and supports the implementation of internal communication frameworks to drive positive cultural change. This is a senior-level, hands-on role that does not include direct people management but will work closely with stream leads and senior stakeholders across the organisation. You will be researching best practice and trends in traditional media, strategic communications, and internal communications and developing briefs and recommendations for senior stakeholders, developing and evaluating media policy frameworks and procedures, and benchmarking performance and act as a media spokesperson, including conducting live and pre-recorded interviews when necessary. This role will run for 3 months at VPS6 level working 2-3 days a week in their Melbourne CBD office.

What you'll need to succeed

• Extensive experience in media liaison and strategic communication, ideally within a government or high-profile environment
• Proven experience as a media spokesperson with strong media relationships
• Demonstrated experience in crisis and issues management
• Strong internal communication and change management experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills—personable, professional, flexible, and confident, engaging with stakeholders at all levels
• Comfortable picking up the phone, building relationships, and working collaboratively across teams
